Badges for teachers

Start earning your badges

5 Badges = 1 prize draw

Why badges?

  • To make sure that we have all our basic skills in place and to see how we are progressing on our SAMR, and TPACK journey
  • To recognise our achievements in acquiring skills and knowledge
  • To win prizes!!! For every 5 badges that you earn, you will get an entry into our Badge Wheel of Fortune at our TeachMeet Celebrations  (2 November  2024- save the date!)
  • To go "dieper" - One Badge at a time!
  • To showcase new apps and tools that we use effectively in our classroom.

How can you earn a badge?

Just look at what badges are becoming available as we load them here, and go through the criteria and course material.  For TwT teacher badges you will have to attend the interschool workshop, plan your lesson with the assistance of the ITE and MEL team and then implement the lesson with your learners in your classroom. .

Once you know that you fulfill all the criteria for the relevant badge, and have uploaded all the POE (proof of evidence) to your Gdrive folder, notify your ITE to allocate the badge to you in the badge tracker.  Simple as that!

How can I get badges for new tools and apps that are not listed here?

Claim the badge as a founder. The teacher who first introduce the badge and use the app in their classroom become the founding badge owner. To claim it you must

  • Let us know that you want to claim it (only after you have used it in your lesson and it works well)
  • Write the criteria for the badge (how other teachers can earn the badge)
  • Ask your ITE to create the Badge post for others to refer to and provide a video (e.g. YouTube)
  • The Team will add the badge to our Badge tracker and you will get double points for your badge.

All the badges with ticks have criteria attached that must be adhered to. For the others, ask the ITEs to claim them on your behalf for now. If the badge is not listed, you can write the criteria and be the badge founder!
