
The Robotics project is kicking off with great enthusiasm. Not only are we hosting a Robotics workshop for Teachers, we are also doing a Hackathon to get our learners interested in Robotics and showing off their skills. They are the problem solvers of our future so we are looking forward to seeing how they are going to face future challenges during this hackathon.
What is a Hackathon?
- A hackathon is a time-based event where participants get to test their skills and knowledge in a certain topic/ subject whether that topic is designing an app to solve a common problem that a company is facing or mechanically engineering a Robot to solve a certain problem ...
- The point of is a hackathon is to test the participants knowledge
- It is usually carried out by a group of individuals, coming together from different backgrounds, these individuals share ideas and knowledge and create a presentation on how they aim to solve a problem.
KILT SCHOOLS Hackathon!!
The Knysna High Schools will be hosting a hackathon for learners on the subject of Robotics, the topic will be to solve a problem within the learners community. The learners will be presented with 5 topics to choose from
- Waste disposal
- Search and Rescue
- Alternative Energy
- Food Security
- Safety and Security
- Alternatively they may also choose their own topic with the theme of community based challenges.
What will they learn??
The hackathon will provide learners the opportunity to show creativity, innovation and research skills to the above mentioned examples
