My name is Chelsea Gallant and I have been teaching at Concordia Primary for about 3 years now. I am a grade 4 teacher, teaching all the subjects to my class. I am responsible for mentoring the teachers at Concordia High school, to inspire and motivate them to use technology in their classrooms. This DP program gives me an opportunity to showcase and share my expertise that I have learned over the years, with the teachers I will be mentoring.
As a teacher its important to not only teach but to do it with passion. I like to use technology in my classroom because it makes learning so much fun, interactive and it excites the learners. Technology helps learners to understand difficult concepts better through videos, games, pictures etc. It enhances the 4c’s and motivates learners to feel more confident. Technology also saves me time as a teacher and to cater for all types of learners.
Something I would use to inspire others is to tell them that technology is not there to replace them as teachers but to strengthen learning in and outside the classroom. By embracing technology, we open and broaden learners’ ability to learn and perform academically. Opportunities are being created and it gives learners a world of endless learning possibilities.
