Hello everyone, my name is Brandon Bernard Jantjies. I am an educator and school technician based in Knysna, where I teach Grade 6 and 7 in both English and Afrikaans. My dual role bridges the gap between traditional pedagogy and modern classroom infrastructure, allowing me to approach teaching with a highly practical, tech-forward mindset.
Currently, I am serving as a mentor teacher for Thembelitsha Primary School. As a mentor, my primary goal is to help fellow educators integrate digital tools into their routines to genuinely elevate their teaching, rather than adding to their workload.
I champion technology in my classroom because it is the ultimate efficiency multiplier. By utilizing AI tools like Microsoft Copilot alongside hardware like the Parrot Graphic Tablet, I can significantly streamline lesson preparation, automate repetitive administrative tasks, and deliver highly engaging lessons for my learners. Even utilizing advanced features on mobile devices allows me to easily produce high-quality video content for school events. Technology is not about flashy distractions; it is a practical utility used to reclaim our time so we can focus our energy directly on our learners and their academic outcomes.
If there is one thing I can share to inspire others to embrace educational technology, it’s this: Technology will never replace a passionate educator, but an educator who effectively leverages technology will always have more bandwidth to inspire their learners and avoid administrative burnout. Don't be afraid to start small, master one digital tool that solves one specific problem for you, and watch how it structurally improves your classroom experience.
