Using our TwT strategies for revision

If our teachers are looking for some quick and effective way to to use our strategies for badge implementation (and earn 50 points for yourself and your school), read on!

What do you need to do to earn your 50 points?

  1. Lesson plan
Please submit it online and use the word template
    Example:
    Your name: Alice Jantjies
    Your school: Karatara HS
    Grade: 10
    Subject: Maths literacy
Topic: Summarising what to learn in the exam
Strategies: Learning stations, Groupwork, discussion, Mindmapping
    Duration: 2 lessons
Lesson plan: (What will I do? What will they do, what tech will I use)
Objective: to make sure that they know what will be in the exam
I will divide the class into home groups of 5 (My class have 36 learners= 7 groups with one group with 6 learners). At each station there will be a different exam section, where I have a summary slideshow (PowerPoint) of what is important to know and practice on the exam topics below. They have to create a mind-map using either paper-(then take a photo) or simple mind on their cellphones/class tablets (screenshot) at each of the stations. As a debrief, I will do/show a communal mind-map to summarise and make sure that they have all the important points. (The group will get a point for each bubble that correspond with my map- sweeties for the winning group)

    Stations/Sections:
    1. Numbers and calculations with numbers (see Powerpoint/worksheet)
    2. Patterns, relationships and representations (see Powerpoint/worksheet)
    3. Conversions and time (see Powerpoint/worksheet)
    4. Financial documents and tariff systems (see Powerpoint/worksheet)
    5. Measuring length, weight, volume and temperature (see Powerpoint/worksheet)

  2. Evidence in my School G-drive lesson folder
    - 5 station PowerPoints
    - Photos of my learners busy at their stations
    - Photos of the group Mindmaps
    - Screenshot of my exam Mindmap
  3. Note to self: Next time I will get groups to create their own slideshows.

Discussion questions:

  • Q: Do I get implementation marks for both the Learning station and Mindmapping strategy? (e.g if I use more than one strategy in my lesson)
Answer: You get 50 points per lesson. So in the end you will need 6 lessons that has to feature at least one of each of the 6 strategies.
  • Q: If we create the lesson plan as a group of teachers- do we each get 50 points?
Answer: You still need to implement it with YOUR class so yes I value collaboration. But, I will still need 6 different TwT lessons in your portfolio (school Gdrive folder) to proof that YOU have implemented the lesson in your classroom with YOUR learners and to earn your badges
  • Q: Do I have to use tech or can I just use the strategy?
Answer: For your TwT badgification, you need to give me 6 lessons where you use both the startegy(ies) and some infused tech (apps devices software etc)
  • Q What evidence do you need for me to get my module badge?
Answer: The lesson plan ( see example above- pls complete the online one so that I can get notified that you did it!
    - The resources created to support the lesson plan (example - the 5 slideshows, videos, audio files, pdfs, worksheets, assessment sheet- all in electronic format)- in my school Gdrive folder.
    - Proof that the lesson happened. (e.g. photos of the learners at the station, showing what they have been busy with, scans or evidence of what they have created during the lesson-e.g mindmap)
  • Voila! Jaribaaaaaa done!!
