The Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching (KILT) is a non-profit company passionate about the value of a good education. We support local schools to enhance learning and teaching and to make school fun, safe, and exciting. We are working to reduce the number of children leaving school before completion and believe that the entire school environment needs to be supported. Accordingly, we have developed a range of 18 interconnected projects that improve all aspects of school life.

Our e-Learning Project takes advantage of our natural desire to play by using gamification to encourage  schools, teachers and learners alike to embrace e-Learning integration in our KILT schools with outstanding results worth celebrating! On the 4th of February 2023, KILT will be having a celebration event to reward our 15 participant schools for their input and efforts to make our learners digitally responsible and skilled citizens, ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution!

We will be hosting a Technology, Coding and Robotics Expo where school leadership can interact with the latest available technologies and software. We will also showcase our learner’s and IT enablers prowess in coding and robotics. This will all be part of our gamified awards celebration where each school will be able to claim their technology using points that they have earned in 2022. This is a novel approach in rewarding our schools, teachers and IT enablers to “skill up” and take e-Learning development to the next level in their schools. Our theme for 2023 is LEVEL-UP.

The awards ceremony will be preceded with a fun scavenger hunt, where school leaders from across the district will be able to investigate and experience the latest technology available to schools for technology-rich learning environments. We are inviting all the leading technology providers to join us in showcasing and celebrating the innovative use and potential of the latest educational technology for our learners and schools.

The Department of Education, educational institutions, and the private sector are invited to come and celebrate working together to improve educational outcomes for our learners. Our schools will use this occasion for e-learning fun-raising and will be offering food-for-nerds stalls to raise additional funding for much-needed technology in their classrooms.

We envisage a morning of fun and excitement with scavenger hunt prizes, good food, robotics and coding exhibitions, and games hosted by our very own IT enablers and learners. There will also be share-an-app stations, where you can learn about new favourite apps and have some edu fun!  Be prepared to Tik-Tok, Insta-Smile, Rock-your Robot and Code-Along for the future.
