FAQs

What is expected of me as an ITE?

You have to make sure that TTT is available on Thursdays (or any other day if the school/teachers organise beforehand. You have to make TTT happen!! You either have to ask the IT coordinator to organise a teacher to lead the TTT training or you have to be ready to host and facilitate a fun session for your school teachers. Don't worry, we will make sure that you get training on all the tools and strategies to make your TTT workshops worthwhile and engaging. (or we may also throw you in the deep end 😜as that is what IT enablers do.....)

What does TTT entail?

Teacher Tech Thursdays are put aside for teacher professional development for e-Learning. The teachers can come after school for workshops (more than one teacher) or for One on One training/support. We will release a Menu of tools and activities for the teachers to choose from and you can pick from the menu which workshop you will be offering, after consulting with your IT coordinator and teachers.

How do I get the teachers to come to TTT?

  • Some schools put out a weekly newsletter of what is happening during the week. Make sure that you discuss with your ICT coordinator the week before, so that the teachers are notified on a Monday, what will be on offer on the Thursday.
  • Put up a poster of what is happening for TTT in the staffroom and on the computer lab door.
  • Keep a spreadsheet of your teachers names and make sure that you personally invite them for one on one sessions, as they need to do at least 5 sessions.  This can happen on a Thursday (if you are not having a workshop) or when they have an open period and you are not busy.
  • Volunteer to make them an e-tool! (eg. a Kahoot, Flippity quiz etc. The deal is that they have to sit with you so that you can teach them to do it themselves!
  • Ask for 5 mins during staff meetings to get the teachers excited about joining that week's TTT session.
  • Put up a Learner badge tracker in the staffroom and in your lab. Explain what the badges are for and ask the teachers to collaborate with you for afternoon sessions .E.g If they are doing a topic in Geography, they can send their learners to you to do a Mind-mapping session with you. Or if they ae doing formal letters- the learners can come and type it in the afternoon (Word badge)
