Our first Robot Thursday Training session of 2026 is here! This session is all about understanding WRO Explorer and getting our Grade 8 and Grade 9 learners competition-ready before 16 May.
Here is everything you need for the session.
Agenda
- Welcome + WRO 2026 introduction
- Explorer Lite vs Explorer Prime β category comparison
- Scavenger Hunt Challenge β find the code blocks, build your program, score points on the mat
- Debrief + commitment β what you will do in your next Wednesday session
Session objective
Teachers leave knowing what WRO Explorer is, the difference between Lite and Prime, and what their Grade 8 learners need to do before 16 May β and they experience it themselves.
Download your session materials
- π Explorer Lite vs Prime comparison card (comparison_cards.docx)
- π Robo Mission + Future Innovators category cards
- π Scavenger Hunt sheet (rtt_session1_scavenger_hunt.pdf)
- π RTT Session 1 presentation (rtt_session1.pptx)
How the scavenger hunt works
SPIKE Prime code block images are printed and spread around the room. Teachers look at the WRO scoresheet, decide which tasks they want to attempt for maximum points, hunt for the code blocks they need, assemble the program on the tablet, and test on the mat.
The scoring is based on the real WRO Explorer scoresheet β Bronze (0β80), Silver (81β165), Gold (166β250), Diamond (251+).
Tip: You cannot complete everything. Choose strategically β go for the most points with the simplest code.
What comes next
After this session, your next Wednesday Grade 8 goal is simple: robot moves forward and stops. One skill. Done well. Send your ITE a photo or short video as evidence after your session.
