Job description

An exciting opportunity for a Junior IT Technician. The focus will mainly be hardware-oriented support tasks carried out in our 15 KILT Knysna schools. We are looking for a dynamic and energetic individual who is self-motivated, has an interest and passion for information Technology, is Tech Savvy and people friendly. 

Duties

  • Install and maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. 
  • Train ITE’s and teachers on the usage of the technology in the schools.
  • Check computer hardware HDD, mouses, keyboards etc. to ensure functionality.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
  • Perform troubleshooting techniques on different technologies in the schools: diagnose, resolve, repair or replace parts etc.
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance.
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
  • Important Company orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
  • Rearm & reimport server virtual machines and put it on the domain.

Requirements

  • Matric certification
  • A valid driver’s license and your own transport.
  • Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication ability
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Good knowledge of servers in a server environment e.g., domain controllers, DHCP servers etc.
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage e.g., CompTIA A, Microsoft Certified IT Professional
  • Police clearance.
