Powerpoint Workshop

When I think about teachers today, I think about that space where creativity, pressure, and innovation meet. Teachers are constantly juggling curriculum, admin, learner needs, and technology that keeps evolving. It’s exciting - but also a little overwhelming.

Objective

Use PowerPoint effectively to create clear, modern, and interactive lesson slides.
Incorporate multimedia elements such as images, icons, videos, and animations appropriately.
Understand the role of impactful visual design in improving learner engagement and comprehension.

Understanding the powerpoint ribbon

  • Tabs: These are the main categories (e.g., Home, Insert, Design) that group related tools together.
  • Groups: Within each tab, you'll find groups of tools, like Font or Alignment in the Home tab.
  • Commands: These are the individual tools, like Bold or Center, that you use to edit your slides.
  • Contextual tabs: These appear when you select an object, like a picture, and offer relevant tools.
  • Quick Access Toolbar: A customizable toolbar for your most-used tools.
  • Collapse/Expand arrow: Click this to hide or show the ribbon, giving you more screen space.

Let's have some fun! 😄 Here's an activity:

Slide Storytelling Challenge. Create a 3-slide presentation using random objects (e.g., a cat pic, a map, a food pic). Write a short story that connects the objects. Be creative! 🎨

Workshop Outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to create engaging and effective presentations using PowerPoint.
  • Learners will understand how to use PowerPoint's features to convey their message.
  • Attendees will learn tips and tricks to enhance their presentation skills.
