For term 3 we will be going more integrated, with the ITS working more closely with the teachers to take what you are doing in the classroom and supporting it with some digital tools (+fun) in the afternoons. We are also introducing our new badge system for the learners. For every badge they complete (with evidence in their school folder they earn the school 5 points) this means we need our leadership and teacher's help to extend what you are doing in the classroom to the computer fun club. We have created a programme for the learners for the afternoon fun club, but you are welcome to liaise with your friendly ITE to swap sessions around according to your needs.
TTT (Teachers Tech Thursdays are now also Teacher Tech Tools)
We have listened and are in awe of the term schedules of meetings, BOT and so much more! So TTT will "officially" now only take place once/twice a month, unless schools host their own TTT (and please invite other schools). This does not mean that you cannot go for one on one sessions with your ITE, which counts as a training session for them and you (10+10 points). We are also encouraging teachers to go and join the learners in the afternoons for fun club learnings. (20pts for you).π₯°
Our ITEs are now Flippity, Kahoot, Screenpal and Scribd experts and they can teach you and help you to create flashcards, word searches, bingo, snowman, crossword puzzles, video lessons and more. We will open up new items on our Teacher menu as we extend their training. See some examples here of one on one sessions and subject resources.
How do we need your help?
Please look at the learner badges and when they will be done with the learners. Supply the ITEs with material that they can then use to make the badge relevant for the learners. For example, if you are planning an entrepreneur's day, send the learners to the afternoon fun club to go and earn their Budget badge. If you are doing an essay writing or poster in your subject, send them to go and do Word or the Poster badge. Do you want some research done on a topic? Let them do it at the computer club and earn their Research badge. Do you need the kids to practice their orals- let them do the Video badge. When you do your subject meetings- add how you can connect the computer club badges with what you are doing in your subject. (E.g terminology list can be changed to a typing test, flashcards, bingo, snowman).
We also encourage teachers to share what they do with tech and tools, so why not organise a TTT session with your colleagues? (Lots of extra points π)

After school study club
This term we will be working closely with the After School Study club and the Maths project, to support the maths teachers, by extending Greenshoots and Siyavula to the Tuesday and Thursday afternoon learner sessions. For more info on how you can get involved, contact Maggie (0835566962).
Provisional Programme
We will be sharing this editable sheet with our ITEs and ICT coordinators to adapt your Learner sessions to what is happening in the classrooms.

Thank you for sharing this informative update! π It’s always great to stay informed about any changes that may occur. The insights provided here are invaluable and will undoubtedly help many of us better understand and keep up to date. Keep up the fantastic work! π
Thank you very much for sharing this information , it will also be really helpful and easier for the teachers who want to know more about how to accumulate points .
HPS is pushing the learners to get badges and the excitement is in the air for all learners to see who will get the most badges.
Thank you to the project manager for shaping these wonderful ITE’s that motivate our learners into more of a technical way of learning.
Thank you for helping out learners. This program has worked wonderfully this year and can only improve in 2024.
I am a gr.6 Teacher. With the help of technology it was very interesting to use the e learning methods like power points especially with learning learners how to create an e-mail.
My leerders gr 7 A en B het die aanbieding geniet . Die leerders kon die verskil sien tussen die teorie en die tegnologie.
